Position Summary
Cirrascale Cloud Services is seeking a Level 2 Data Center Technician to support the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of server, storage, and networking infrastructure within our data center environments.
The Level 2 Data Center Technician serves as a technical escalation point for Level 1 technicians and is responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex hardware issues, supporting operating system and network troubleshooting, performing remote hands activities, and assisting with large-scale infrastructure projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Hardware Installation and Maintenance
* Install, rack, stack, and cable servers, storage systems, network equipment, and related infrastructure.
* Troubleshoot and replace hardware components including drives, power supplies, memory, GPUs, RAID controllers, NICs, fans, and other server components.
* Perform firmware upgrades and hardware diagnostics.
* Execute hardware decommissioning projects and validate data wipe procedures.
Network and Connectivity Support
* Troubleshoot network connectivity issues using standard diagnostic tools and commands.
* Verify switch ports, VLAN assignments, transceivers, and physical connectivity.
* Perform cross-connects, patching, and cable management according to company standards.
* Support network deployment and upgrade projects.
Operating System Support
* Assist with Linux server installations, imaging, and basic configuration.
* Troubleshoot operating system boot issues and hardware-related system errors.
* Review logs and perform basic OS-level diagnostics.
* Support customer image deployment and validation activities.
Remote Hands Support
* Serve as the on-site resource for remote engineers and customers.
* Perform equipment power cycles, hardware replacements, console access, visual inspections, and troubleshooting activities.
* Execute maintenance activities while ensuring customer approvals and change management requirements are met.
Inventory and Asset Management
* Maintain accurate asset records within company systems.
* Perform physical audits and inventory validation.
* Manage shipping, receiving, and RMA processing activities.
* Ensure equipment is properly labeled, tracked, and documented.
Documentation and Process Improvement
* Maintain detailed ticket updates and technical documentation.
* Create and update operational procedures and runbooks.
* Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and service delivery.
Team Support and Escalation
* Provide guidance and mentorship to Level 1 Data Center Technicians.
* Act as an escalation resource for advanced troubleshooting.
* Escalate issues to Engineering or specialized teams when appropriate.
Required Qualifications
* 2+ years of data center, server, IT infrastructure, or related technical experience.
* Experience troubleshooting server hardware and enterprise infrastructure.
* Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, VLANs, and Ethernet technologies.
* Experience working in Linux environments.
* Familiarity with RAID configurations, storage systems, and virtualization platforms.
* Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with GPU-based server environments.
* Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms.
* Familiarity with NetBox, Jira, and asset management systems.
* Basic scripting experience with Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
* Previous experience mentoring junior technicians.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
