SUMMARY: The Student Assistant - IT Desktop Support provides front-line technical assistance to staff and students. This role is designed for students who are interested in building hands-on IT experience while developing customer service, troubleshooting, and technical skills in a real-world environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide basic technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices. • Assist users with login issues, password resets, and basic software questions. • Respond to help with desk tickets, emails, and walk-up requests under staff supervision. • Install and configure software, updates, and patches as directed. • Assist with setting up workstations and shared equipment. • Document issues and solutions in the ASI IT ticketing system. • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to supervisor. • Follow IT policies, security standards, and data protection requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Sacramento State; maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA overall (for Student Assistant incumbents). • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or MacOS systems. • Knowledge of Adobe Suite Applications. • Expressed interest in Information Technology or related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Computer Science or Management Information Systems Major preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT • On- campus or office Setting • Occasional trips to ASI Children's Center and Sac State Aquatic Center
