Job purpose
Reporting to the Methods and Programming Director, the incumbent develops and writes manufacturing routings in accordance with customer requirements and specifications, as well as company standards, in order to optimize production efficiency and work methods, while reducing production costs. The incumbent also participates in all activities, including evaluating materials and hardware, and estimating production steps and time for each part, whether performed internally or through subcontracting.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand technical information shown on engineering drawings, specifications, and repair/maintenance documents (MRO);
- Write and update manufacturing routings across all departments (welding, thermal spray, chemical room, assembly, machining, inspection, painting, and surface treatment);
- Continuous improvement: create assembly manuals and collaborate on corrective actions;
- Provide technical support to operations across all departments;
- Validate technical requirements of 3D drawings in Catia V5 and produce necessary sketches (visual aids) to support production;
- Evaluate repairs and define repair steps based on authorized repair documents;
- Analyze the impact of change requests and perform contract review and risk analysis.
Required education
- DEC in mechanical engineering or aerospace manufacturing; or
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering; or
- Any other relevant technical training combined with appropriate experience may be considered.
Technical skills
- Junior engineer with 3 years of experience considered an asset
- Minimum 3 years of experience using Catia V5 drawings;
- Ability to perform follow-ups and controls;
- Excellent command of French (spoken and written) and functional English (reading and writing), required to understand documentation from suppliers outside Quebec;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing in a similar role.
