About
Essential Responsibilities:
Conduct MRI procedures, ensuring patient clinical history aligns with the imaging protocol and is properly documented for licensed practitioners. Prepare patients by providing clear instructions to achieve optimal results, encourage cooperation, and reduce anxiety. Operate MRI equipment and accessories, selecting appropriate scanning parameters and protocols as directed by radiologists. Position and immobilize patients comfortably to best capture the anatomical area of interest while applying magnet safety principles to protect patients and staff. Assist licensed physicians during procedures and attend to patients' physical and psychological needs throughout imaging. Perform venipunctures, prepare and administer contrast media as prescribed, and maintain equipment used for contrast administration and patient monitoring. Evaluate image quality, adjust display parameters, and ensure accurate documentation and record keeping. Initiate basic life support when necessary and perform diagnostic radiographic procedures as needed. Educate patients and their families about tests and procedures to foster understanding and comfort. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the imaging area, report equipment malfunctions, and contribute to supply management decisions. Provide practical instruction to students and healthcare professionals, participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives, and uphold sterile techniques. Recognize anatomical structures using computer-generated imaging systems and document patient histories and relevant information accurately. Manage imaging media release to authorized parties following proper protocols. Participate in on-call duties as required to provide technical support outside regular shifts, adhering to payroll and departmental policies. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology. Computer proficiency. Experienced radiographer with knowledge to perform MRI procedures and maintain ongoing education in cross-sectional anatomy. Licensure and Certifications:
State certification as required. Registered Technologist (R.T. (R)) with ARRT or equivalent in good standing. ARRT certification as R.T. (MR) at hire or within two years of employment.
Work Shift: First shift, weekend schedule (Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.), part-time with 24 scheduled weekly hours. This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Midwest United States.
