About
Decontamination: Follows Standard Precautions by wearing the appropriate protective attire while working in the Decontamination area. Decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment as needed by keeping a continuous flow of equipment moving through the process. Utilizes appropriate cleaning detergents and agents by reading directions and MSDS sheets. Assembly: Inspects all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and breakage by viewing and/or testing the instruments before assembly. Assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings. Wraps or pouches items according to size and type of instrument or equipment. Sterilization: Challenges the sterilization process by using internal, external and biological monitoring systems appropriately. Monitors, reads, documents, and interprets all parameters for all types of sterilizers to insure proper function. (Steam and Sterrad) Sterilizes instruments and surgical trays by following prescribed policies and procedures upon request. Process or produce sterile items in comparison to others. Distribution / Case Carts: Distributes all sterile and non-sterile supplies and medical equipment upon request or case cart requisition. Orders and puts away supplies & linens upon request as needed.
Education CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) Physical Requirements H - Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires constant walking, standing or squatting. Pay Range $23.75 - $28.00 CITY: Newark POSTAL CODE: 14513 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
