Conduct thorough evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing standardized assessments and keen observational techniques. Create tailored treatment plans focusing on immediate needs as well as long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing aspirations. Deliver personalized speech therapy sessions with an emphasis on communication strategies, language skills, voice articulation, and swallowing functions. Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team-physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and family members-to establish well-rounded care approaches. Provide education and supportive resources to patients and families to ensure continued progress beyond therapy sessions. Offer occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions in speech therapy, ensuring a seamless continuum of care throughout the treatment process. Keep precise and timely records that comply with state, federal, and organizational regulations. Commit to ongoing professional development by engaging in continuing education and peer-to-peer collaboration. Education
A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution. Successful completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) for those not yet ASHA-certified. Certifications
A current state license as a Speech Language Pathologist. A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) issued by ASHA is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification should be obtained within the first 30 days of employment. Skills
Expertise in implementing evidence-based therapy interventions for patients of all ages, with in-depth knowledge of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and professionals across disciplines. The ability to modify therapeutic approaches to address a variety of cultural and linguistic contexts. Strong clinical judgment combined with effective problem-solving skills.
