Assess the speech and language needs of a diverse patient population, utilizing both standardized assessments and observational methods. Create individualized treatment strategies that cater to both immediate goals and overarching long-term speech, cognitive, or swallowing requirements. Deliver targeted speech therapy sessions focusing on effective communication, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing techniques. Engage with a multidisciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, families, and caregivers to ensure a holistic approach to care. Provide educational resources for patients and their families, empowering them to facilitate progress outside of sessions. Conduct occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions, fostering continuity of care throughout each patient's journey. Keep thorough and updated records in compliance with state and national regulations. Commit to continuous professional development and collaborative learning with peers in the field. Education
A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution. Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not ASHA-certified. Certifications
State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. Must acquire Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the first month of employment. Skills
