Job Duties
Conduct assessments on patients spanning from the pediatric to geriatric populations by utilizing both observational and standardized methods. Craft individualized treatment strategies that align with both immediate and long-range communication, cognitive, and swallowing goals. Engage in direct speech therapy sessions focusing on various aspects of language, fluency, voice, and swallowing. Collaborate closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and family members to create cohesive treatment plans. Educate patients and their families on strategies to facilitate improvement in communication outside of clinical settings. Occasionally assist with inpatient evaluations and therapies, ensuring seamless transitions throughout the care process. Maintain precise and timely patient records in compliance with all relevant regulations. Stay informed about the latest developments in speech-language pathology through ongoing education and collaborative learning. Qualifications
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution. Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is still pending. Certifications
State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire. Core Skills
Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic practices for all age groups, with deep knowledge of developmental and acquired disorders affecting speech, language, and swallowing. Strong interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and a multi-disciplinary team. Adaptability to address varied cultural and linguistic needs within therapy approaches. Sound clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
