UPMC Pulmonary and Sleep At UPMC, we are committed to providing Life Changing Medicine through compassionate, patient-centered care. UPMC Pulmonary and Sleep is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dedicated and collaborative care team. What You'll Do:
Support physicians and clinical staff with direct patient care Prepare patients for exams and procedures Perform clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks to support clinic operations Help ensure a safe, efficient, and positive experience for patients Contribute to UPMC's standards for quality, safety, and patient satisfaction
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday, 7:30am-4:30pm or 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-2:30pm No weekends or holidays
Salary will range from $19.00-$29.15 UPMC offers a supportive work environment where employees are encouraged to grow, learn, and make a meaningful impact every day. Responsibilities:
Accompany patients to exam/procedure room.
Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients/families.
Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.
Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.
Assist physicians with procedures.
Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate. Other front office responsibilities, as required. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Performs other duties as assigned. Medical Assistant: · High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities
Medical Assistant, Senior
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
OR successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) OR at least 1 year of patient care experience required.
Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
