Interventional Radiology Technologist Opportunity Novant Health is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our growing Interventional Radiology team at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina. Position Summary The Interventional Radiology Technologist provides direct patient care and technical support during neurovascular, peripheral vascular, and interventional radiology procedures. This position collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and procedural team members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout all phases of interventional procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-acuity procedural settings. Patient Care & Procedural Support
Provide patient care before, during, and after interventional and vascular procedures Scrub and assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures Prepare sterile procedural tables and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures Monitor patient condition and respond appropriately during emergent situations Ensure patient comfort, safety, and education throughout the procedural experience Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams to address patient needs Document patient care and changes in patient condition accurately and timely
Technical & Clinical Responsibilities
Assist with neurovascular, peripheral vascular, and interventional radiology procedures Demonstrate clinical proficiency across procedural radiology environments Operate imaging and procedural equipment safely and efficiently Support procedural workflow and maintain high-quality imaging standards
Leadership & Team Collaboration
Foster teamwork and collaboration within the Interventional Radiology department Serve as a resource and support for team members as needed Demonstrate flexibility to meet changing departmental and patient care needs Assist with onboarding, mentoring, and precepting new team members Utilize strong communication and conflict resolution skills in collaborative environments
Radiation Safety
Practice radiation safety to protect patients, staff, and self Maintain compliance with ALARA and departmental safety standards Ability to wear lead aprons for extended periods throughout procedural shifts
Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or GED required Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program required
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology experience required Experience in neurovascular, peripheral vascular, or interventional procedures preferred
Licensure / Certification
ARRT (R) or RCIS certification required BLS certification required Additional life support certifications may be required per departmental policy
