About
Interview patients to obtain medical history and identify patients' health status. Request, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs. Interpret health assessment information to formulate and implement health care plans according to established policies. Prescribe and dispense prescription and non-prescription drugs as needed, based on documented information and symptoms. Support health programs in providing patient care along with social workers, nutritionists, and nursing staff and other paraprofessional personnel from other disciplines. Maintain records and prepare oral and written reports in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Maintain professional licensure and keep up-to-date with recent medical developments. Manage patient records and ensure daily care program needs are met. May supervise assigned staff. Involves: Schedule, assign, instruct, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development. Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. Recommend hiring, termination, discipline, or other employee status changes.
