About
Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role for a Business Intelligence Architect. The position is based in Lisle, IL, with some flexibility for remote work. The Business Intelligence Architect will be responsible for designing and governing the architecture of data systems and BI solutions that support our organization's data analysis and reporting needs. BI Architects work closely with stakeholders to define business requirements, oversee the technical aspects of BI projects, and ensure the scalability and security of data systems.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with an agile team to deliver high-impact solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong SQL and Power BI expertise, business acumen, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
Essential Responsibilities Business Intelligence Platform
Direct, influence, and support projects in implementing and using BI software tools and systems, such as Power BI and/or Qlik Sense Leads the design, development, and data models to ensure interoperability with BI solution Ensure solutions are optimized for performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability Conduct requirements gathering through client workshop sessions, business process descriptions, and comprehensive business analysis
Governance & Standards
Establish and impose BI governance practices, including data quality, security, and access controls Define best practices for development, version control, and release management Establish standards for data modeling (star schema), naming conventions, and reusable datasets Review and approve solutions to ensure alignment with architectural standards Lead efforts around audit readiness, compliance, and documentation standards Ensure reporting solutions align with internal governance standards and applicable regulatory or compliance requirements
Leadership
Lead and mentor developers, analysts, and technical teams to promote architectural best practices and enable consistent adoption of solution design principles Conduct solution reviews and enforce production ready standards across the BI team Work with team members to translate requirements into technical specifications; assist in the identification and assessment of potential data sources
Data Management & Development
Design and develop scalable BI solutions including semantic models, dashboards, and reports Write and optimize advanced SQL queries, stored procedure logic, and complex joins within SQL environments Develop advanced DAX, Power Query, and automation solutions using Power Automate, and related technologies to streamline recurring reporting processes Monitor and validate data quality across reporting pipelines and escalate discrepancies when identified Perform ad hoc analysis and troubleshoot reporting or data integrity issues independently
Analytics Enablement & AI
Evaluate new projects and initiatives to ensure alignment with application architecture standards, define technology requirements, estimate project efforts, and outline high-level solution designs Evaluate new tooling and solutions to further the organization's AI and data strategy, identifying opportunities to leverage AI to achieve business goals, and developing a roadmap for implementing these solutions Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve reporting efficiency through automation and process redesign
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with data engineering teams to define data pipelines, data structures, and ingestion strategies Ability to present analytical findings and reporting insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
Job Requirements and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required, in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence or related field 4+ years’ experience in business intelligence, analytics, reporting, or data-focused roles using Qlik, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools Demonstrated experience designing BI architecture and scalable data models Advanced proficiency in SQL, stored procedures, and complex joins Hands-on experience developing enterprise reporting solutions within Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, data modeling, and security configuration Proficiency in Python (Pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, XGBoost), dbt, Jinja Expertise in Microsoft Fabric Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor team members Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyze and organize data with attention to detail Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills Strong understanding of BI governance, security, and deployment best practices Preferred understanding of enterprise data architecture, data flow processes, and reporting optimization strategies Standard background checks must be cleared

Anticipated Salary Range $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annual
The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible.
