General Summary The STI works under direct supervision to perform validated surgical technologist skills in the operating room. Responsibilities include assisting with patient care, scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and maintaining aseptic technique. You will support surgical teams by preparing instruments, positioning patients, and ensuring a safe and efficient environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform basic operating room functions under supervision, including scrubbing, gowning, and gloving. Assist in setting up surgical cases using doctor's preference cards and appropriate instruments. Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology accurately in clinical tasks. Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency in the work area. Meet attendance and punctuality standards while managing time effectively. Support patient safety and quality care under the guidance of the surgical team.
Education High school diploma or GED required. Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technologist program. Experience Entry-level position; no prior experience necessary. Certification/License Must be actively pursuing certification/licensure as part of the surgical technologist program. Mental and Physical Requirements This role demands considerable mental focus and physical stamina, including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, and various movements such as turning, stooping, and reaching.
