The Radiology Technical Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, smooth, and efficient delivery of diagnostic imaging services to patients of all ages. Collaborating closely with the radiology team, this position supports a clean and safe environment while assisting with patient transport, clerical tasks, and supply management. Key Responsibilities
Utilize TEAM principles (Teamwork, Empathy, Accountability, Messaging) to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff. Identify opportunities to enhance patient experience and participate in service improvement initiatives. Perform patient identification using two identifiers and verify with wristbands. Provide basic education to patients about examinations and refer questions appropriately to reduce anxiety. Assist with patient transfers and positioning following no-lift protocols. Prepare procedure rooms between cases and maintain cleanliness in department traffic areas. Perform clerical duties including document collection and data generation for procedures. Support electronic image management, including importing and sharing images. Assist with communication between providers and on-call radiologists, including escalation of exam dictations. Restock procedure rooms and supply carts, manage waste disposal, and inventory emergency supplies. Report defective equipment and maintain ongoing competencies related to role functions. Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. No prior work experience necessary; on-the-job training provided. Skills and Abilities
Excellent guest relations and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and understand English. Receptive to supervision within a multidisciplinary team. Flexible approach to work tasks and scheduling. Physical Requirements
Ability to work variable shifts involving standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient observation. Exposure to blood and body fluids with appropriate safety precautions.
