Requirements:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. Current state license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or CFY status with supervision. Prior experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric setting preferred. Strong clinical skills in evaluation and treatment of dysphagia, cognitive-linguistic deficits, and communication disorders.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of residents with speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and physician orders. Provide direct therapy services targeting communication skills, cognitive-linguistic functioning, and safe swallowing. Perform and interpret swallow assessments and make diet modification recommendations. Document all evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Educate residents, families, and staff on therapy plans, communication strategies, and safe swallowing techniques.
Compliance / Notes: May involve standing, assisting residents, and working with individuals with complex medical conditions.
