Summary Job Description: Job Title: Mammography Technologist - PRN 1st Shift While Radiology and Ultrasound are both imaging departments within the hospital, they utilize different technologies and serve distinct diagnostic purposes. The Radiology department encompasses a broad range of imaging techniques that use different forms of radiation or electromagnetic waves to visualize the internal structures of the body. X-Ray, CT Scan, MRIx Job Description: Make mammography images for interpretation by the Radiologist. This role will be responsible for assisting in quality control and assurance. This role is also responsible for patient education and performing mammography exams on adult patients. Working Conditions: Exposure to extraneous rays from x-ray equipment may result in injuries such as burns, dermatitis, destruction of blood cells, and inhibition of glandular activities unless all precautions are taken. May be exposed to infectious disease due to patient condition. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs mammography exams in accordance with the American College of Radiology and the Food and Drug Administration guidelines. Performs and maintains records in accordance with the American College of Radiology. Assists Radiologist with stereotactic exams and biopsies. When needed: Room patients for other technologists, get patients changed, notify physicians of abnormal findings (after seeing written report or receiving an oral report from the radiologist), digitize prior (or outside) images, put images on a disc to be sent to outside facilities, schedule stereotactic biopsies and needle localizations, call patients to schedule mammograms, coordinate with PACS admin to obtain or transmit images, clean department, print consent forms for procedures, perform quality control procedure in the absence of the lead.
Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology Registration or registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Current Radiation Operators Certification with the Kentucky Department of Human Resources Must meet guidelines set by the ACR and FDA BLS required.
