Key Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of rheumatic and autoimmune conditions. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, infusion and biologic therapies, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications. Perform medical procedures such as joint injections and aspirations as clinically appropriate. Work closely with medical assistants, infusion nurses, advanced practice providers, and administrative staff to maintain efficient patient flow and ensure high-quality care. Collaborate with primary care physicians and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and disease management strategies. Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and procedures accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Follow practice policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements while supporting quality improvement initiatives across the practice. Maintain appropriate licensure, board certification, and continuing medical education requirements. Review laboratory results, imaging reports, and diagnostic studies and communicate results and follow-up recommendations to patients in a timely manner. Prescribe medications and monitor patient response to therapy, including immunosuppressive and biologic medications commonly used in rheumatologic treatment. Collaborate with the Infusion Department regarding biologic and infusion therapies, including determining appropriate treatment plans and monitoring patient outcomes. Provide clinical guidance and supervision to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), Medical Assistants, and clinical staff as appropriate. Participate in practice meetings, clinical discussions, and initiatives designed to improve patient care, efficiency, and overall practice performance. Support the growth and reputation of the practice by providing excellent patient care and maintaining strong professional relationships with referring providers and the local medical community.
Qualifications
Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. Completion of a residency in Internal Medicine. Completed Fellowship training in Rheumatology. Board certification in Rheumatology. Valid and unrestricted medical license in Florida (or ability to obtain a valid medical license in Florida). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
Skills and Competencies
