About
This is a full-time, year-round position within a critical access hospital. Hospital coverage with on-call and weekend responsibilities. Some holidays may be required. This position is full-time with benefits. The schedule includes seven (7) consecutive twenty-four (24) hour shifts. Advanced Practice Providers are responsible for patient rounds, hospital admissions, and receiving/responding to after-hours calls.
Responsibilities:
Listen to the patient to gain an understanding of health needs and symptoms.
Create an accurate record of physical findings.
Record medical histories.
Create and/or coordinate treatment therapies.
Update information for existing patient records.
Respond to questions and concerns for patients about their health care and well-being.
Discuss proper nutrition, hygiene, and self-care with patients to promote good health.
Formulate the treatment plan and prognosis based on the patient's condition.
Provide home instruction.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests (essential).
Prescribe and recommend medications or other forms of treatment.
Ability to accept and treat patients with Same Day appointments in the Rural Health Clinic as needed.
Core Competencies:
Comfortable working independently and autonomously.
Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to assess and begin treatment for patients and/or refer to higher-level care.
Excellent customer service and communication skills (including oral, written, and listening).
Proficient knowledge of Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers (known as Hospital CAHPS) and ability to achieve top box scoring.
Proficient and timely documentation and organizational skills.
Self-motivated, adaptable, flexible, and able to make sound judgment calls. Flexible and willing to accept other duties as assigned Competitive Compensation Package RequirementsEducation/Experience/Licensure
Master's degree from an Accredited University
Advanced Practice Provider, Certified Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant license for South Dakota
Certification in BCLS, ACLS
Current State and Federal Narcotics Licenses
3+ years of hospitalist experience
