Deliver high-quality bedside patient care across multiple hospital units, including Inpatient, Outpatient, Pre/Post/PACU, Emergency Department (ED), and Infusion services.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within scope of Paramedic Specialist practice.
Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges in coordination with nursing and medical teams.
Respond promptly to emergency situations, using advanced clinical skills to stabilize and support patients.
Monitor patient conditions and communicate findings effectively to the interdisciplinary team.
Prepare and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC), ensuring timely and clear charting of all care provided.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care and adherence to individualized care plans.
Participate in the development and implementation of patient care protocols and safety measures.
Maintain required certifications and actively pursue continuing education to remain current in clinical practice.
Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to support patients, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
Practice in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures of the State of Iowa and the healthcare organization.
Provide mentoring or orientation support to new staff or students as assigned.
Qualifications Requirements:
Paramedic Specialist Certification Required
Graduate from an accredited school
Current certification in the state of Iowa
Ability to read, write and speak English
3 yrs of experience preferred
BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP & TNCC – (preferred) and required per certification after hire if not already certified
Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, priority setting, problem solving, and organizational skills
Possess adequate computer knowledge and skills - not limited to the following (Word, Excel, EPIC) preferred
Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds
