40 Rector Street Suite 1020B New York, NY 10006 Shift/Schedule: Monday to Friday Employment Type: Fulltime Overview A multidisciplinary Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Management (AECM) firm with a strong East Coast presence is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a full-time, on-site position in New York, NY. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical engineering design solutions for building and infrastructure projects. This role involves developing, reviewing, and coordinating electrical systems design documents in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure that all electrical systems are safe, efficient, cost-effective, and fully constructible while meeting project schedules and budgets. Key Responsibilities Develop electrical design drawings for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and grounding systems using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools. Perform electrical engineering calculations and technical studies including load calculations, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop analysis, and system coordination studies. Ensure all electrical designs comply with NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards, local building codes, and client-specific requirements. Coordinate electrical designs with civil, structural, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient building systems. Review and approve shop drawings, technical submittals, and material specifications. Provide technical support during construction, including responding to RFIs and conducting site visits and inspections. Prepare and maintain electrical design documentation such as schematics, schedules, reports, and technical specifications. Participate in project meetings and coordinate with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders throughout project execution. Support value engineering initiatives and identify opportunities for design optimization and cost efficiency. Ensure all designs are constructible, energy-efficient, and aligned with project timelines and budgets. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering within construction, infrastructure, or industrial building projects. 5+ years of experience designing electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communication, and grounding systems. 5+ years of experience preparing construction documents and coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines. 7+ years of overall experience in electrical design engineering within the construction industry. 5+ years of experience using electrical analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, or equivalent tools. 5+ years of experience performing system studies including short-circuit, coordination, and voltage drop analysis. 3+ years of experience in value engineering and design optimization initiatives. Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or equivalent regional certification. 5+ years of experience applying NEC, NFPA, and IEEE electrical codes and standards. 5+ years of experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit for electrical design documentation. 5+ years of experience supporting construction-phase activities including RFIs, site visits, and field coordination. 5+ years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E., B.Tech, or equivalent).
