The Payments and Compliance Engineering team at Roadie is looking for a Software Engineer who is excited to develop backend systems that uphold trust, reliability, and smooth onboarding experiences. In this role, you will collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and partners across the business to strengthen and extend the services that handle payments processing, regulatory compliance, and new account onboarding. Your work will shape the first interactions users have with our platform and support several systems that must operate with a very high level of reliability and accuracy. You will join a tight-knit team of Engineers who work together on both our long standing Ruby on Rails monolith and our expanding set of Go microservices. A major focus of the team involves shifting core functionality from the monolith into well designed services, and you will help guide this transition as we move toward a more modular architecture. What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain APIs and backend services that support product functionality, scalability, and long-term reliability Deliver features end to end by writing, testing, deploying, and monitoring code while applying strong observability practices Work with core infrastructure components such as SQL databases, and leverage technologies like Kafka or Redis when useful Collaborate with engineers across the team to refine existing systems and support the design of new features and solutions Partner with senior engineers and tech leads to scope and understand project requirements Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and pair programming to support team development Apply industry best practices to improve performance, efficiency, and maintainability of applications Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Data Science stakeholders to provide input on technical decisions and feature design Contribute to evolving and upholding software engineering best practices Technology We’re Using
Backend: Ruby on Rails, Go Data & Messaging: Postgres, Redis, Kafka, Redshift Infra: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes Tooling: git, GitHub, CircleCI What You Bring
3+ years of software development experience Degree in Computer Science or equivalent background Expertise in Ruby or Go (bonus points if you know both!) Curiosity and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience writing clean, stable, maintainable production code This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
