Pay: Local Contract
- $45.00 per hour
Pay: Travel Contract
- $1,841.00 Gross Weekly
- $20.00 per hour taxed
- $1,091.00 tax-free stipends for housing, meals, and incidentals per diem
- $500.00 travel allowance ($250 to assignment / $250 from assignment for qualified travelers)

Position SummaryAs a Registered Nurse (RN) in a correctional facility, you will provide essential healthcare services to an incarcerated population, ensuring patients receive timely and appropriate medical care within a secure environment. This role includes conducting assessments, administering medications and treatments, managing chronic and acute conditions, and responding to medical emergencies. You will collaborate with custody staff and interdisciplinary healthcare teams while maintaining strict adherence to safety, legal, and ethical standards. The overall purpose of this role is to promote health, prevent disease, and ensure continuity of care while supporting the safety and operational integrity of the correctional system.
Responsibilities Schedule / Shift- Shift details: Day and Night shift openings available
- Shift hours: 6:00am–7:00pm or 6:00pm–7:00am
- Every other weekend required
- Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week
- Schedule: Three 13-hour shifts with 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments, triage medical needs, and document findings in accordance with clinical and correctional protocols
- Administer medications, treatments, and injections while ensuring proper storage, handling, and documentation
- Monitor and manage chronic and acute conditions, including responding to medical emergencies and coordinating higher-level care when needed
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and facility-specific standards
- Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, and custody staff to support patient care while maintaining facility safety and security
- Required: Graduate of an accredited Nursing program
- Required: Active South Carolina RN License or Compact Nursing License
- Required: AHA or American Red Cross BLS Certification
- Required: TB test completed within the last year
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in fast-paced, high-risk environments
- Ability to maintain safety awareness, security protocols, and professional boundaries at all times
- Effective communication and de-escalation skills when working with diverse and challenging populations
- Knowledge of correctional healthcare regulations, infection control, and ethical standards
- Minimum of 1 year recent nursing experience in Correctional, Behavioral Health/Psych, LTC, or Acute Care required
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
