We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant Scribe to join our Atlanta, GA team.

We have been offering services in optometry, cataract surgery, cornea, retina, and glaucoma treatment, oculoplastics, and pediatric ophthalmology for 50 years Â
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for performing routine clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care in a busy ophthalmology practice. This role involves direct patient interaction, preparing patients for examinations, assisting during diagnostic tests, and ensuring seamless communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Interaction: Welcome patients, obtain and record medical histories, and explain treatment procedures and post-care instructions.
- Clinical Support: Prepare patients for examinations, assist physicians during exams, and record vital signs.
- Administrative Duties: Handle scheduling, manage patient records, complete insurance forms, and arrange laboratory and hospital services.
- Medication Management: Prepare and administer medications as directed, authorize drug refills, and send prescription information through the EMR system.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and sterilize medical instruments and maintain orderly exam rooms.
- Communication: Facilitate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and the clinical support team.
- Insurance and Billing: Verify insurance coverage, obtain prior authorizations, and assist with processing insurance claims.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to HIPAA guidelines, assess safety hazards, and take precautions to ensure a safe work environment.
Education: College degree preferred; BS degree related to medical/healthcare field is preferred.
Experience:Â No prior experience required but experience in medical/healthcare field is preferred.
Job Qualifications:
- Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and compliance.
- Familiarity with MS Word and Excel.
- High level of professionalism and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
- Efficiently obtain and record medical information in the EMR system.
- Handle patient check-ins and check-outs with accuracy.
- Manage phone calls and patient inquiries professionally.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist during procedures.
- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding medications and treatment plans.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms and medical equipment.
- Coordinate patient appointments and follow up on clinical questions.
- Assist with insurance verification and scheduling of surgeries.
- Spanish Speaking a plus
