HVAC Service Technician

Ferrer Mechanical is an employee-owned commercial mechanical contractor specializing in complex HVAC systems across Connecticut. We're looking to add a strong Commercial HVAC Service Technician with experience servicing large, sophisticated equipment. This role is ideal for a tech who enjoys troubleshooting, maintenance, and working on high-tonnage commercial systems.

What You'll Be Working On

This is a true commercial service role, with exposure to larger equipment that many shops don't offer:

• Chiller service & maintenance
• Common manufacturers: Trane, Carrier, York
• Commercial boiler service & maintenance
• High & low pressure systems
• Manufacturers include Burnham, Cleaver-Brooks, Lochinvar, Weil-McClain
• Large rooftop unit (RTU) service & maintenance
• 50–150+ ton equipment
• Trane Intellipak, Carrier, York
• VRF systems (preferred)
• Mitsubishi, Daikin, LG, Samsung
• AAON equipment
• RTUs & AHUs (factory certifications a plus)
• Controls exposure
• General HVAC controls troubleshooting (Johnson Controls knowledge helpful)
• Controls are subcontracted on installs, but in-house troubleshooting experience is valuable

Many of our current technicians have experience on 25-ton and smaller equipment — this role helps us expand our service capabilities on larger commercial systems.What We're Looking For

• Commercial HVAC experience required
• Strong background in chiller maintenance and troubleshooting
• Experience working on large rooftop equipment (50 tons and up)
• Commercial boiler experience (high & low pressure)
• VRF and AAON experience strongly preferred, but not required
• Controls knowledge is a plus, not a dealbreaker
• Comfortable working independently in a service environment

Experience Level:

• Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of experience
• We are open to speaking with candidates who have less experience if they check key boxes and show strong commercial aptitude

Licenses & Certifications

• EPA Certification required
• No state HVAC license required
• Manufacturer certifications (LG, Daikin, Mitsubishi, etc.) are a plus
• Company will send technicians for additional certifications
