Licensed Vocational Nurse Requirements:
Education: Licensed Vocational Nurse Experience: Experience in medical office or clinic setting preferred. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting when moving or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
Essential Responsibilities:
Direct patient flow to and from exam rooms. Take and record vital signs, current complaint, and history. Recheck all information sheets for completeness and accuracy. Assist the provider in the exam/treatment of patient, including injections, immunizations, and other procedures by physician order or standing order. May perform in-clinic lab tests or draw blood for outside laboratory tests. Provide patient education as directed by provider. Document all patient contact information. Prepare exam rooms and instruments as appropriate to anticipated utilization including cleaning and sterilizing of instruments. File reports in charts. Patient referrals to providers, as necessary. Processing medication refill requests Order and maintain medical supplies and equipment. Communicate with patients by phone, including screening phone calls for providers, answering patient questions to his/her ability, calling patients as needed for recheck or with lab results, and documenting all communication in the chart. Maintain the clinic’s inventory of drugs and biologicals in keeping with the Clinical Operational Procedures. Any other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager, Clinic’s Clinical Coordinator, and/or the provider supervising.
Job Qualifications:
Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere. Interacts with patients, family members, medical staff members, and other department managers on a continuous basis. Conducts patient satisfaction surveys as required. Follows safety guidelines and infection control policies for the hospital district. Maintains licensure and certifications.
