This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment. The Graphic Designer creates compelling visual communications that support the church's mission, ministries, events, and brand. The Graphic Designer will collaborate with the Art Director and Director of Communications to design print, digital, environmental, and promotional materials that engage the congregation and community. The ideal candidate is fluent in typography, layout, and photography, with a strong grasp of branding and design principles. They bring creativity, initiative, and attention to detail, producing high-quality work that is consistent with HPUMC's voice and visual identity. As an integral part of the Communications team, the Graphic Designer ensures all graphics align with the church's mission, goals, and brand standards—delivering designs that inspire connection and engagement. Reports To: Art Director Ministerial Exemption: No FLSA Status: Exempt Campus: Mockingbird Working Hours: This is a Full-time position working at least 36 hours per week. Anticipated Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am – 5 pm (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch); Friday, 8 am – 12 pm. *During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the job's demands. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services, including Christmas Eve and Easter. Job Responsibilities and Duties: Collaborate and brainstorm with the Art Director, as well as the broader communications team (and with other ministries and departments as directed) to develop effective design key looks and associated assets. Translate strategy and insights into thoughtful, visually engaging materials for multichannel marketing and branding initiatives. Design and produce a wide range of print and digital media, including flyers, posters, templates, booklets, ads, banners, brochures, social media graphics, web graphics, and sermon series graphics. Support campaigns and projects from concept through execution, ensuring creative solutions align with ministry objectives and HPUMC's brand standards. Manage the full creative lifecycle—from initial design explorations to final deliverables—delivering high-quality work on time and with attention to detail. Balance multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, agency-style environment. Stay current with design trends, tools, and software to continually elevate the quality of creative work. Maintain and safeguard HPUMC's brand identity across all platforms and materials. Organize and manage the design library and archival system for graphics. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the Communications team. Duties may be changed and modified at any time. Education and Desired Skills: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field preferred. 2+ years of professional graphic design experience. Excellent typography skills with an understanding of branding and design principles. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong customer service skills required. Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in print and digital design. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Experience with Canva and presentation design tools preferred. The willingness to listen to feedback and use it to improve. Illustration, animation (After Effects) and photography skills are a bonus. Preferred Software Experience: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) Google Suite (Google, Gmail, Calendar, etc…) Canva DropBox Physical Demands: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Seeing, Hearing, Speaking, Lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, Fine Motor Skills Other Qualifications: Must be a committed Christian, with a church home, who is comfortable working in a United Methodist Church and willing to spend occasional Sundays onsite in order to understand HPUMC firsthand.
