Build Data and Analytics Architecture Build/Develop Data Strategy, Data Pipeline System Optimization and Security Technical proficiency with relational databases, data warehousing technologies (Snowflake, Databricks) and modeling tools like DBT Translate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
Position Concept The Data and Analytics Architect is responsible for the back‑end components of the organization’s BIA environment from standards, architecture, and design perspectives. The role provides overall responsibility for the implementation and support of data movement and engineering processes required to populate custom‑built analytic data structures (staging areas, data warehouse, data marts) and design these structures. The architect also drives strategy and design for federating custom data architecture with vendor solutions, provides technical oversight, and ensures quality of work by data analysts, data engineers, and developers. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Define and evolve the data architecture in alignment with enterprise standards to support use cases such as reporting, OLAP, dashboards, data mining, and statistical analysis, ensuring scalability, security, reliability, and flexibility. Determine the appropriate deployment environment (cloud or on‑premise). (25%) Establish best practices for source data analysis, ETL design and documentation, data federation across platforms, business rule placement, ETL testing and release management, database‑level security, and data masking, anonymization, and tokenization. (15%) Translate user requirements into data models and supporting applications by guiding data analysts, advising ETL developers, and designing logical and physical analytic data structures. Deploy metadata tools for documentation, implement security for integration tools, collaborate on support environments and release management, oversee operational environments, and work with DBAs and operations teams to monitor and optimize ETL performance. (15%) Accountable for the quality of data model and ETL application deliverables, establishing and managing QA functions including testing (unit, system, stress, etc.) and peer reviews. (15%) Provide technical oversight and coaching to ETL developers and data analysts, mentoring team members on technical skills and competencies. (15%) Serve as a technical subject‑matter expert, offering consultation for BIA‑related initiatives. (15%)
Supervisor None Relationships Key Internal: Stakeholders of the BIA Solution. Key External: SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, consultants (system integrators, offshore teams), contractors, customers, vendors. Qualifications Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Information/Computer Science, Data/Information Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent discipline. Preferred: At least one professional certification in related disciplines.
Direct Experience
Required: 7 years of direct work experience performing duties & responsibilities of this position or closely related duties. Hands‑on experience with SAP BW4/HANA, HANA Enterprise, SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerBI, etc.
Preferred Experience
Gas or electric utility experience. Experience working in large public or private‑sector organizations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Required
Deep knowledge and experience with SAP and Microsoft Azure suites (ETL, service bus, data quality tool components) and understanding of SAP HANA, SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerBI platforms. Experience establishing ETL application design standards and designing/implementing such applications.
Preferred
Knowledge of electric grid solutions such as ADMS, EMS, AMI/MDM, Intergraph GIS. Knowledge of fundamentals of data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, etc. Ability to assess emerging business and regulatory changes and articulate their impact.
