$90,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr (Location specific – must reside in SoCal or near Orlando, FL) Thriving systems integration company in Orange County, CA, catering to food and beverage automated manufacturing market, needs an experienced Controls Engineer. Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to develop their technical skillset across a broad range of automation technology, work in a variety of industrial environments for numerous Fortune 500 companies and develop industry-specific expertise. Experience with creating and editing electrical drawings and CAD software such as Eplan or AutoCAD Electrical Knowledge of practical/fundamental wiring practices for industrial control systems up to 600VAC motor power circuits, controls, discrete and analog signaling devices. Experience in electrical control system design and engineering for machinery, including programming, start-up and debugging processes. Experience with PLC Logic using Rockwell, Beckhoff, Siemens, ABB or equivalent. Experience with Factory Talk ME/SE/Optix and other HMI products. Experience with ISO13849 and Functional Machine Safety Perform onsite programming and electrical troubleshooting service calls with existing automation equipment including VFDs, Servo Drives, PLCs, HMIs, Sensors, Relays, Motors, etc. Comfortable working with a variety of automation hardware and software platforms Develop electrical Bill of Materials and appropriately size electrical components in a controls enclosure Create controls architectural layouts Interpret and redline electrical schematics Communicate with customers and team members in a timely and professional manner Skillsets and Qualifications
3-5 years of experience as a controls engineer Strong understanding and the ability to develop PLC & HMI applications Proven collaborator; able to leverage individual strengths to provide value to the entire team and customers Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to read, markup, and modify electrical schematics in .pdf format Hands‑on experience with low voltage (480V and below) electrical applications Experience with the following automation disciplines: PLC Programming / HMI Development / Variable Frequency Drives / Motion Control / Industrial Networks / Sensors Ability to develop and grow strong customer relationships Consistently takes initiative and efficiently manages schedule Solid problem‑solving skills and displays acts of resourcefulness Travel will be about 15% local, 15% nationally To comply with some state laws, the annual base salary range for this position has been provided. The range given is broad and should be considered as a guideline only.
