Superintendent

This position manages on-site coordination for all phases of the projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material, and equipment, ensuring that drawings & specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendent is responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.

Essential functions/position responsibilities include:

  • Leading the direction of the jobsite
  • Scheduling subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Managing carpenters, laborers, and sometimes others on jobsites, as well as participating in employee feedback and evaluations
  • Performing quality control responsibilities regarding the work being performed
  • Ensuring subcontractor is fully executing and complying with the contracted scope of work
  • Continuous communication with the project team (Owner, A/E, Subcontractors) regarding schedules as well as any critical issues that need to be resolved
  • Keeping all construction documents up to date, checking dimensions and details between changes, documenting changes and discussions, reviewing shop drawings and as-builts
  • Keeping a weekly schedule and developing an ongoing 3 to 4 week look ahead schedule
  • Keeping subcontractors on track and on time reaching out to subcontractors to make them aware of when they need to be onsite and confirming their delivery timeframes for materials
  • Quality control developing punch lists prior to subcontractors completing their work and leaving the project to ensure the work is per drawings and specifications and done in a good workmanship manner.
  • Documenting & recording all safety issues, holding a weekly safety meeting
  • Cost control surrounding material schedule and T&M slips, keeping within scope of budget
  • Submitting daily reports regarding invoices and tool rental
  • Writing daily reports on Procore
  • Maintaining timesheets for employees on the jobsite
  • Classifying vendor invoices related to the job
  • Cross training others as much as possible, increasing knowledge regarding MEP
  • Performing superintendent duties at multiple job sites simultaneously
  • Performing conflict resolution between subcontractors and vendors
  • Managing difficult or emotional customer situations, responding promptly to customer needs, meeting commitments
  • Maintaining a positive attitude, bringing the team closer together to accomplish the work.

Supervisory responsibilities include supervising all subcontractors, vendors, laborers, and carpenters on a daily basis to ensure adequate manpower is available for each task and compliant work is performed.

Hiring requirements/preferences include:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of verifiable experience on a commercial construction site
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficient with Procore. HH2 software experience preferred.
  • Proficient at reading blueprints
  • Detail oriented
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Self-starter

Special comments: Salary range $85,000 to $120,000
