As a Senior Business Analyst at Capital One, you will apply strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges, working with world-class professionals to develop and test strategies that impact the bottom line in a collaborative environment that values insight, continuous learning and innovation.
Team and Focus The Enterprise Arbitration team optimizes inbound channels such as EASE, Email, and Site by designing and implementing models and frameworks. These channels generate over $2.5 billion in annual enterprise value through marketing and servicing optimization. The role is crucial for ensuring the optimal message reaches the right customer, driving excellent customer experiences and strengthening relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate potential model improvements and develop comprehensive model roadmaps.
Advise Lines of Business on the impact of modeling results on their operations.
Analyze business challenges and opportunities, providing strategic or tactical recommendations.
Perform modeling and analytics to support new product and pricing strategies across lending products.
Support direct‑to‑consumer marketing efforts, developing targeted insights for new customer experiences and go‑to‑market strategies.
Build and test risk models, connecting future credit trends to historical behavior to improve credit performance.
Lead problem framing, hypothesis development, testing, and solution design; manage implementation and monitor outcomes.
Collaborate with peers across IT, Sales, Operations, Finance, and other Capital One functions to drive quality, volume, service, and profitability improvements.
Apply strong quantitative orientation and decision‑making skills rooted in rigorous analytics to support marketing and credit risk management.
Demonstrate business judgment, leadership, and integrity in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Communicate complex concepts clearly to senior audiences, influencing agreement through intellect, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Maintain focus on achieving short‑ and long‑term goals in an uncertain, fluid environment.
Prove a successful track record of thriving in fast‑paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic settings; prior consulting experience is a plus.
Basic Qualifications
At least 2 years of professional experience performing analysis.
Either currently holding or in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields) with the degree expected to be completed by the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Business or a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, or Engineering.
1+ year of experience in statistical model building.
1+ year of experience in market research.
1+ year of experience in SQL querying.
2+ years of experience in business analysis.
1+ year of experience in consulting.
Benefits and Compensation Capital One offers a comprehensive, competitive, and inclusive set of health, financial, and other benefits that support overall well‑being. Salary ranges for this role vary by location:
Chicago, IL: $101,100 – $115,400
McLean, VA: $111,200 – $126,900
New York, NY: $121,300 – $138,400
Richmond, VA: $101,100 – $115,400
Riverwoods, IL: $101,100 – $115,400
In addition, this role is eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
