Job Description The Data Analyst II oversees activities related to data integrity, security and enhancement of the value of data. The Data Analyst II may direct the movement of data across multiple systems; oversee its validation and organization and make sure that data is available to appropriate people and systems within an organization. The Data Analyst II will also develop and execute reports that will be important assets of the practice as they continue to develop and evaluate a new model of care.
The Institute for Health Equity Research (IHER) is seeking a Data Analyst II to support research focusing on health and health care disparities using claims data, electronic health records (EHRs) and clinical datasets, as well as population-based and survey data to conduct analyses and initiatives related to health equity. The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative data analysis skills and experience working with SAS, SPSS, STATA, Oracle, Python, SQL, R or similar statistical software packages and the ability to work collaboratively to support IHER in the effective evaluation, interpretation and communication of research findings. They will develop and carry out data analysis plans for research projects using diverse healthcare and population datasets using statistical software, such as SAS and/or R, as well as implement best practices in data management to ensure the integrity of the data, the quality of data processes and deliver analyzable or analyzed data to IHER research teams. Experience with large datasets and/or interest in public health or epidemiology is preferred.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in computer science, statistics and/or related field required, or combination of equivalent work experience and education. Masters degree in relevant field of study preferred (e.g., statistics, epidemiology, computer science, etc.).
3+ years of analytics experience including report development and database application/management experience, preferably in a large medical center or healthcare environment
Preferred
Experience working with survey data, claims data, electronic medical record and/or health systems data
Data management experience in an academic and/or healthcare environment (preferred).
Experience with GIS programming and analysis a plus.
Responsibilities
Work closely with IHER management and research staff to define data analysis and reporting needs.
Develop and carry out data analysis plans for research projects using diverse healthcare and population data using statistical software, such as SAS and/or R
Implement best practices in data management to ensure the integrity of the data, the quality of data processes and deliver analyzable or analyzed data to IHER research teams
Manipulate and analyze project-related datasets; create or provide data sets and subsets for specific analyses; and transfer data as imports or downloads between different systems to facilitate data analysis
Maintain data integrity and completes data analysis as necessary
Complete data capture, data extraction and analysis
Develop, maintain or implement procedures for data entry, data cleaning, documentation and other administrative tasks
Document, implement, maintain or recommend operating methods to improve processing, distribution, data flow, collection, database editing procedures
May define parameters for file or space utilization
Access data in the Data Warehouse, as required
Provide technical assistance in the development of manuscripts, reports, grants, presentations, and data analysis
Design and write custom applications needed to ensure the database meets requirements for the entry, management and reporting of data
Identify and recommend solutions to data management issues
Maintain knowledge of the current regulations and technologies related to data management
Write and prepare manuscripts and other materials for internal and external audiences
Perform other related duties

Compensation Statement Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $69999.88 - $105124.12 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
