Job Summary Freight & Transportation Analytics
Analyze freight spend, transportation performance, and network flows to identify savings opportunities and operational improvements.
Develop automated dashboards and KPIs to track transportation cost, carrier performance, and shipment trends.
Support global freight negotiations with data insights, scenario modeling, and rate analysis.
Perform root‑cause analysis on cost variances, billing discrepancies, and service failures across all transportation modes.
Data, Reporting & Tooling
Build and maintain scalable datasets, reports, and dashboards using tools such as
Power BI, Excel , etc.
Improve data quality across freight, transportation, and trade compliance systems by identifying gaps and implementing corrective solutions.
Present insights clearly to leadership and cross‑functional teams, translating complex data into actionable business recommendations.
Principal Responsibilities
Collect, compile and analyze data from various databases and perform statistical analysis for internal customer groups.
Develop reports and/or create dashboards providing financial related information needed to make informed business decisions.
Design, create and implement templates to collect, display and analyze data for assigned projects.
Communicate complex data in comprehensible ways, evaluate information from multiple sources, and clearly indicate the quality of final analysis.
Develop reports and other tools to deliver internal company information enabling business users to make informed decisions.
Gather, aggregate models, and analyze information from multiple external sources regarding company financial performance, customer insights, competitor profiling, competitive threats, potential product or technical expansion, industry trends and other business intelligence aspects.
Establish standards and procedures for a variety of processes, conduct business analysis resulting in detailed creation and maintenance of business process mapping, requirements and training materials documentation.
May participate in or lead project teams.
Identify, investigate and participate in opportunities to improve processes and procedures, including various key performance metrics.
Job Level Specifications
Thorough knowledge of principles, theories and concepts in the area of discipline. Competent in all job functions and has general understanding of industry practices, techniques and standards.
Develop solutions for a variety of situations and work on projects requiring evaluation and analysis. May refer to policies, practices and precedents for guidance; determine best course of action to achieve results.
Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. May receive some limited guidance for new assignments. Work may be reviewed for overall adequacy.
Collaborate with management and team members within the department or organization, representing the department internally or externally.
Actions may impact the overall success of the department and/or organization. Failure to accomplish work or erroneous decisions may result in project delays, loss of revenue, or additional resource allocation to remediate.
Work Experience
Typically 3+ years with bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Education and Certification(s)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
Distinguishing Characteristics
2–4 years of experience in business analysis, supply chain analytics, transportation, logistics, or trade compliance.
Strong analytical capabilities with experience working with large datasets.
Proficiency in Excel and Power BI (or other BI tools).
Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and communicate insights effectively.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and drive process improvements.
