Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and direct patient care in an acute rehabilitation and transitional care facility setting. Under the guidance of licensed nurses, you will play a vital role in supporting patients' daily needs and enhancing their recovery experience. General Summary Working under the supervision of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) delivers essential bedside care, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout their stay. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of any changes in patient condition to nursing staff. Perform basic care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities. Collaborate closely with nursing personnel to promptly respond to patient needs, fostering a supportive and safe environment. Accurately document all care activities to aid clinical decision-making and maintain quality patient records. Effectively communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team to promote optimal outcomes.
Education High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Certification and Training If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, candidates must complete a specialized PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided. Mental and Physical Requirements This role demands considerable mental focus and physical activity, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, bending, and other mobility tasks. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
