Travel Medical Lab Technician Austin, Texas We're looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for an immediate travel opening in Austin, TX. The right MLT must have 1 year of recent medical laboratory experience. Read below for additional requirements. As a MLT, you will be responsible for the procurement and evaluation of blood and other body fluids with accuracy and precision. The Medical Laboratory Technician will have working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. As a MLT, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
Perform and evaluate laboratory analysis on blood and other body fluids. Interface with medical center personnel and physicians to review lab results and confirm diagnoses. Perform quality assurance testing and instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures. Assist laboratory scientists by utilizing microscopes, cell counters, and other high-precision lab equipment to examine and analyze blood, body fluids, tissues, and cells. Investigate and resolve problems and unusual situations. Ensure patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning. Evaluate and implement new methodologies and procedures as assigned by supervisors. Use medical center and laboratory computer systems in the performance of daily tasks. Generate appropriate and required documentation of testing and support procedures.
Medical Laboratory Technicians should be able to stand and walk for long periods, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty. Medical Laboratory Technicians must have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have 1 year of experience in a medical laboratory. Must have experience working as a generalist (chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis). Must have BLS and ASCP or AMT-MLT National Certification. An associate degree in science or a health-related field, such as chemistry or microbiology, is required. Requirements*: AMT, ASCP, BLS, 2 Years * Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
