MOBILE DENTAL DRIVER (part-time/seasonal)
FLSA: NON-EXEMPT
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Safely operate and maintain mobile units, including dental, medical, or outreach vehicles, while ensuring compliance with all traffic and safety regulations. * Perform daily vehicle inspections, checking fuel levels, tire pressure, and general maintenance, and promptly report any mechanical issues. * Coordinate with program staff to ensure timely arrival and setup at scheduled locations. * Assist with loading, unloading, and setting up equipment or supplies at outreach sites. * Maintain cleanliness and organization of the mobile unit, including restocking necessary supplies. * Support staff during events by assisting with crowd management, patient registration, and data entry as needed. * Maintain accurate logs of mileage, maintenance, and program activities. * Serve as a liaison with community partners at outreach sites to ensure smooth operations. * Adhere to safety protocols by securing equipment during transport and ensuring passengers follow safety procedures. * Schedule and perform regular maintenance for the mobile unit and ensure all safety procedures are followed while driving. * Alert HR regarding any personal or job-related traffic infractions that may occur during or after work hours. * Participate in community education programs as needed and provide additional support to the mobile coach. * Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers.
If Dental Assistant:
* Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and materials for smooth workflow. * Ensure patient comfort and safety by providing clear instructions and addressing questions or concerns. * Travel to various locations, adapting to different environments and ensuring all necessary equipment is prepared for use. * Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment in compliance with infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment. * Maintain accurate patient records, manage appointment scheduling, and assist with billing and insurance as needed. * Monitor inventory levels of dental supplies, placing orders to ensure readiness for mobile operations. * Ensure dental equipment is well-maintained and functioning, resolving any issues that arise during mobile operations. * Collaborate with dentists, hygienists, and staff to facilitate effective communication and patient care. * Report daily to the designated site, with the home base being where the mobile unit is stationed (travel is not compensated). * Provide dental assistance in mobile settings while following established procedures and protocols. * Clean and sterilize dental instruments. * Greet patients, prepare them for treatment, and deliver oral health instructions to ensure a positive dental experience. * Weekly monitor coach systems and logs (e.g., eyewash station, spore testing checklist). * Conduct inventory and order supplies for the Dental Coach/portable program. * Document patient treatments at chairside. * Participate in community-based oral hygiene classes and attend required training sessions. * Perform billing and front office duties as necessary. * Adhere to SCHC policies, including OSHA standards, HIPAA compliance, and proper PPE use. * Flexibility to work without a set schedule is required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Mechanical knowledge is required to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting. * Capable of safely operating a vehicle, including manual transmission if applicable. * Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. * Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. * Must be able to effectively manage workflow and maintain high-quality standards in environments where staffing levels may be below ideal, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with the team under pressure. * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or GED required. * Valid Florida CDL License with an excellent driving record. (preferred) * Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations. * At least two years related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and driving. * Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. * Must be able to travel to various center locations as required.
