About
The Frederick Flying Cows professional basketball team internship program is an experience and opportunity like no other in professional sports! As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience and receive tangible real-world experience with direct responsibility in the organization. You will not only receive the opportunity to learn and observe how a startup professional sports organization operates but also forever be able to say you were a part of the start of the Frederick Flying Cows! The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and will be open to performing a wide variety of tasks in order to learn about what is required to create, run, and market a professional basketball team and organization. We strongly prefer candidates who are either from or currently living in the Frederick area. Interns are required to work all Frederick Flying Cow home games and all scheduled events, as directed by the General Manager. The internship program is an unpaid position that can be used for college credit. The role is entry level and candidates must be willing to work at a high level in order to successfully fulfill their duties and gain a plethora of experience. This is an in-person opportunity! Candidates must already reside in the Frederick area and be willing to commute daily or fully relocate to the area. We are a small team, meaning our interns will work cross-functionally, be involved in all aspects of the organization, and have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas. With that, the Sales Intern will prioritize all things sales and sponsor activation. As the Flying Cows Sales Intern, you may work on the following, but not limited to: Corporate Sales Outreach : Research and identify potential corporate partners and sponsors for offseason events, such as Cow Fest, youth camps, the Moosters Golf Tournament, and community appearances. Sponsorship Activation : Assist in developing and executing sponsorship packages, ensuring that corporate partners receive maximum value and visibility at offseason events. Group Sales Development : Build relationships with schools, businesses, community groups, and organizations to generate interest in group ticket sales for the 2026 season. Community Engagement & Relationship Building : Represent the Flying Cows at community events, networking opportunities, and public appearances to strengthen relationships and maintain year-round fan engagement. CRM Management : Maintain and update customer and corporate prospect databases, tracking outreach and sales progress for offseason and in-season opportunities. Event Support & Sales Activation : Assist with setup and execution of offseason events, helping drive revenue through ticket sales, sponsorship fulfillment, and on-site promotions. Marketing & Promotional Support : Collaborate with the marketing team to develop materials and campaigns that promote offseason events and ticket sales for the 2026 season. Fan & Customer Service : Engage with fans and potential ticket buyers, answering questions, providing information, and building excitement for upcoming events and the 2026 season. Sales Strategy & Research : Analyze industry trends and competitor strategies to help refine the Flying Cows' approach to corporate partnerships and group sales. Preparation for the 2026 Season : Assist in planning and executing ticket sales initiatives, including promotions, special events, and outreach efforts leading into the new season. The internship program is designed to provide training where candidates will gain valuable skills that assist them as they progress in their sports careers. We are seeking motivated, energetic candidates with the goal of building a career in the world of entertainment and athletics. Candidates should be willing to travel and to work odd hours. This is a fun and rewarding opportunity for candidates who don't require much structure and are willing to take risks and try new things. Current college student or recent graduate
with an interest in corporate sales, business development, and relationship management in the sports industry. A strong communicator and confident networker, comfortable with outreach via phone, email, and social media. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage data in CRM systems and provide accurate, timely reporting. Collaborative and eager to work cross-functionally with marketing, community relations, and operations teams to drive successful sales initiatives. A proactive problem-solver with a customer service mindset and an eagerness to support corporate clients and sales goals. Available to work flexible hours, including game days, corporate events, and occasional weekends. Perks: Gain hands-on experience in corporate sales, sponsorships, and client relations within a professional sports organization. Build a strong professional network through interactions with local businesses, sponsors, and industry professionals. Develop valuable CRM, outreach, and reporting skills applicable in sales and business development. Contribute to exciting game-day and special event activations, seeing your work come to life for fans and partners. Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced sales professionals, providing you with skills for future career opportunities. More about Frederick Flying Cows: We are a well-prepared group with the goal of building a championship-quality organization! that is invested in Frederick County. Our goal is basketball, over time, to be part of the fabric of the community and a team that the people of Frederick are proud of. As we think about putting together our team, we have broken the operation down into four (3) areas of focus: Basketball Operations, Business Operations, Sales & Marketing. We are looking for interns to assist in all areas of the business. Building a team and organization from scratch will be both demanding and rewarding. This is a unique opportunity for someone with energy, drive, and a positive attitude who is indefatigable and will gain great satisfaction from being a part of creating something new. We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
