Position Summary Under the direction of the Director of Technology Services or designee, the Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, security, and improvement of the District's technology infrastructure, enterprise systems, and cybersecurity program. The position coordinates technology projects, supports operational continuity, and provides technical leadership for infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity preparedness, and enterprise technology initiatives that support instructional and business operations across the District.
Primary Responsibilities Systems Administration and Infrastructure
Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot District servers, cloud services, enterprise applications, network infrastructure, and related systems.
Support Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Active Directory, identity management, wireless systems, virtualization platforms, and storage environments.
Monitor system performance, backups, disaster recovery systems, and operational continuity procedures.
Coordinate software updates, hardware lifecycle replacement, licensing, and technology standards.
Respond to system outages, service disruptions, and critical technical incidents.
Maintain system documentation, inventories, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and service providers regarding technical support and contracted services.
Provide advanced technical support and guidance to District staff and technology personnel.
Administer and maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms, including Microsoft Intune, Mosyle, Apple School Manager, and Google MDM, to provision, secure, track, and update endpoint devices across the District.
Serve as the Tier 2/3 technical escalation point for the technology support staff, providing mentorship and resolving the most complex infrastructure and system outages.
Manage enterprise identity architectures, ensuring secure SAML/SSO authentication, API integrations, and automated data syncing between the Student Information System (e.g., Aeries) and core platforms.
Cybersecurity
Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive District cybersecurity program aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
Coordinate cybersecurity initiatives to protect District systems, student data, employee information, and operational technology infrastructure.
Oversee cybersecurity tools and systems including endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, email security, content filtering, and threat monitoring platforms.
Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments, vulnerability reviews, and remediation planning.
Support cybersecurity incident response activities including investigation, containment, recovery, and documentation.
Coordinate disaster recovery and business continuity planning related to technology systems and cybersecurity readiness.
Assist with compliance related to FERPA, CIPA, COPPA, data privacy requirements, and applicable cybersecurity standards.
Coordinate staff cybersecurity awareness and training initiatives.
Monitor cybersecurity trends, threats, and emerging technologies relevant to K12 education environments.
Project Management
Plan, coordinate, and manage technology projects from initiation through implementation and completion.
Develop project timelines, implementation schedules, communication plans, and project documentation.
Coordinate technology deployments, infrastructure upgrades, software implementations, and systems integration projects.
Monitor project scope, budgets, deliverables, timelines, and vendor performance.
Collaborate with school sites, departments, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project implementation.
Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for District leadership.
Assist with evaluating technology solutions, preparing specifications, and supporting procurement processes.
Coordinate testing, training, and transition activities related to new technology systems.

Qualifications Knowledge of
Enterprise systems administration and network infrastructure.

Cybersecurity principles, incident response practices, and cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and CIS Controls.
Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.
Technology project management methods and implementation practices.
Applicable laws and regulations related to student data privacy and information security.
Customer service and technical support practices.
Develop or manage scripts and API integrations to automate account provisioning and lifecycle management.
Ability To
Diagnose and resolve complex technical and operational issues.
Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Analyze cybersecurity risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Communicate technical information effectively to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, and District leadership.
Prepare clear reports, documentation, and presentations.
Work independently and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
Education And Experience Any combination equivalent to:
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or related field preferred.
Increasingly responsible experience in systems administration, network administration, or enterprise technology support.
Experience managing technology projects and cybersecurity initiatives preferred.
Experience in K12 education or public sector environments desirable.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid California driver's license.
Industry certifications or project management certifications are desirable.
