About
We are a private ophthalmology practice seeking a dedicated and detail- oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our practice.
The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care within a fast-paced ophthalmology practice.
This position offers an opportunity to work closely with an ophthalmologist and support patients through various stages of eye care, utilizing your clinical skills and medical knowledge. Experience with EMR systems, optical procedures is highly valued. The role requires a commitment to maintaining patient privacy and adhering to HIPAA regulations while delivering compassionate service.
Experience in Ophthalmology/Optometry is a MUST.
Technician Duties Include
- Assist patients during intake, including collecting medical history and vital signs
- Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary assessments and testing
- Conduct visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and other diagnostic procedures
- Maintain aseptic techniques during clinical procedures to ensure patient safety
- Operate ophthalmic equipment such as autorefractors, slit lamps, and optical devices
- Document patient information accurately within EMR systems
- Educate patients on eye health, treatment plans, and post-procedure care
- Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments, managing medical records, scanning, and verifying insurance information
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times
- Assist with inventory management of ophthalmic supplies and optical products
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to ophthalmology
- Experience with medical office procedures including intake, medical coding, billing, and records management
- Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication abilities
- Optical experience including understanding of lenses, frames, and retail sales concepts is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality protocols
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and data entry

Pay: $ $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 38.0 per week
