Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or meaningfully appropriate paid experience
Experience
Prior paid industrial electrical experience or experience in a machine shop or automotive
manufacturing environment with previous machine design experience is helpful.
Job Summary
A System Build Technician at Contour Hardening, Inc. has primary responsibility in focusing on customer system builds, in-house machinery improvements and automation projects. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the company's facility, heat treating machines and equipment in good working order and quickly fixing problems to meet production needs.
Essential Duties
· Build and integrate components that are essential to the operation of induction
· hardening machines, such as part fixtures, holding/mounting assemblies, mechanical
· frames and assemblies, pumps, machine/field wiring, pneumatics, lubrication, servo
· drives, spindle drives, power supplies, HMI interface software and programmable logic
· control.
· Record and maintain design and build decisions related to criteria/information on system
· projects
· Input relevant data to complete and create computer generated work orders for system
· builds using the Company designated maintenance software.
· Work with engineers and technicians to improve designs and processes
· Trouble-shoot, repair, assemble, and disassemble mechanical and electrical
· components related to industrial machines with associated mechanical and electrical
· prints.
· Complete repairs on induction hardening machines and support equipment with
· maintenance and production support personnel as necessary to meet production
· requirements.
· Repair and service material-handling (including robots) and electrical aspects of
· induction hardening machines.
· Support Engineering Manager on in-house equipment as needed.
· Provide training and guidance when required.
· Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Abilities Required
· Ability to identify and distinguish different colors of electrical wires
· Ability to read and follow instruction
· Ability to communicate with team members and leadership staff
· Ability to take direction from Lead System Build Technician
· Ability to read, work from, and markup mechanical and electrical prints and drawings
· Ability to operate basic hand and power tools (i.e., drills, saws, wrenches, pipe threading
· & crimping machinery, etc.)
· Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, pneumatic, and
· Mechanical systems
· Ability to lift and manipulate 40+ lbs.
· Capacity to self-manage own abilities and ask for assistance when necessary
· Capability of being certified to drive fork trucks
· Ability to use computers and smart devices to input data into CMMS software
· Bigger picture outlook to make improvements over the long term
· Competence in problem solving, team building, planning, and decision making
· Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with staff members
· Willingness to be cross trained in other areas and to acquire additional skills as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
