About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering a highly personalised and inclusive education for pupils with additional needs. Working within small classes or on a one-to-one basis, you will create engaging, adaptable learning experiences that support each child’s academic progress alongside their social and emotional development. You will collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that every pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is effectively implemented and reviewed, enabling them to thrive in a safe, structured and supportive environment.
- Individualised Provision: Develop, implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour plans and EHCP targets, ensuring learning is tailored to each pupil’s needs.
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and teach differentiated lessons across the National Curriculum, adapting content through visual supports, sensory strategies and assistive technology to maximise accessibility and engagement.
- Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Track, record and report on pupil progress, prepare documentation for annual reviews, and contribute to whole-school development priorities.
- Behaviour & Pastoral Support: Apply trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to support pupils with complex needs, promoting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and increasing independence.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work as part of a multi-professional team, liaising regularly with support staff, therapists, care teams and parents/carers to ensure consistency between school and home.
- Safeguarding & Professional Practice: Maintain high professional standards, uphold safeguarding responsibilities, manage classroom resources effectively, and ensure compliance with all school policies and regulatory requirements.
About You
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
- Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience: Proven experience working with children with SEND, specifically managing emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of how to adapt SMSC and British Values for pupils with varying cognitive levels.
- Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with vulnerable pupils and their families.
- Qualities: A calm, caring nature with high expectations for the personal growth of every child.
