Job Summary: Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Pharmacy Technician working full-time night shifts in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest. This role involves delivering medications efficiently to nursing units, managing automated dispensing cabinets, and performing aseptic compounding of sterile dosage forms with precision and care. Essential Responsibilities:
Deliver medications promptly to nursing units and return items as needed, ensuring rounds are completed efficiently. Maintain and restock unit-based automated dispensing cabinets accurately, verifying medication placement and expiration dates. Perform aseptic compounding of parenteral admixtures, adhering to proper techniques and quality control documentation. Process floor stock requisitions, maintain logs, and manage stock levels, including removal of outdated medications. Handle controlled substances responsibly, including preparation, documentation, restocking, and disposal in compliance with regulations. Support pharmacists by assisting with order entry, labeling, and answering department inquiries professionally. Restock anesthesia dispensing cabinets and kits, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation. Package bulk medications correctly, maintaining controlled substance logs and submitting products for pharmacist verification. Perform miscellaneous duties following departmental policies, exercising sound judgment and effective time management. Supplemental Responsibilities:
Assist other technician staff during low staffing periods within training limits. Answer phones promptly with a customer-friendly approach, escalating as necessary. Manage multiple priorities effectively and assist in training new employees and students. Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to organizational dress codes. Follow hospital and departmental procedures diligently. Project a professional image and uphold high standards of guest relations and teamwork. Skills and Abilities:
Adaptable to change and interruptions. Motivated to improve skills and assist others. Demonstrates initiative and responsibility beyond expectations. Works well within a team and interacts effectively with diverse individuals. Exhibits excellent guest relation skills, showing courtesy, compassion, and respect. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Current valid State Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Technician in Training license. Obtain national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board within one year of hire. Maintain qualifications as outlined in the Pharmacy Department Technician Ladder for Technician I. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions: This position requires independent decision-making and the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure. Standing and walking are required throughout shifts. The role involves potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and complies with OSHA safety standards. Scheduled for third shift hours, approximately 38.5 hours per week.
