The Northeast Health District is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Communicable Disease Specialist (CDS) Supervisor. Under supervision, the CDS Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and management of the district's communicable disease program that includes sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV as well as supporting the TB and Epidemiology programs as needed.
As the Communicable Disease Specialist Supervisor within the Northeast Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. Job ResponsibilitiesProvides direct supervision, guidance and other training and/or instruction to STD team, including issuing work assignments, providing real-time feedback and managing staff workloads.
Ensures implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease disease prevalence in the community and leads STI team to meet state and/or federal benchmarks. Creates and maintains a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong communication. Motivates staff to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provides training and development opportunities as appropriate. Provides consultation via technical guidance and evidence-based education regarding STI testing and treatment to internal and external audiences, including clinical providers and community partners.
Supports the collection, analysis, and surveillance of data regarding communicable diseases with a focus on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV. Supports management of STD program grant deliverables, including maintaining records on program activities and completing state reports as indicated.
Works closely with the District's HIV Prevention section to foster coordination of partner services and linkage to care between interdisciplinary staff. Adheres to established policies on privacy and security for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and related policies and regulations.
Completes timely review of the department's documented partner services interviews and provides timely updates to supervisor as indicated. Conducts and/or directs home visits and other types of field investigations for people at risk for STIs/HIV including locating hard to reach clients and connecting them to care. Participate in local and/or state meetings as indicated.
Performs pre and post-test HIV counseling and point-of-care testing on patients and contacts as indicated.
Participate in community screenings, health fairs, and pop-up events throughout the district as needed.
Assists in emergency preparedness response efforts as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited college or university and four (4)years of experience in a related area; or six (6) years of experience in a medical-related field or Licensure as a registered nurse and three (3) years of nursing experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Communicable Disease Spec 3 (HCP082) or position equivalent. Preferred Qualifications:
