About the Role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join Avonside School, a brand-new Acorn School in Bristol, and play a key role in shaping a learning environment where every pupil can thrive. We are looking for a passionate and committed SEN Teacher who wants more than just a teaching role — someone who wants to build, inspire and transform lives from day one.
As an SEN Teacher, you’ll deliver engaging, personalised teaching across the secondary curriculum, supporting pupils with additional needs to achieve meaningful progress. Working closely with the Headteacher and wider team, you’ll help develop a high-quality, inclusive curriculum that builds confidence, supports wellbeing and unlocks potential.

As an SEN Teacher, you will:
Deliver high-quality teaching
across a range of subjects within the secondary curriculum, using resources effectively to secure strong progress and achievement.
Work collaboratively with the Headteacher
to support curriculum development and take on additional agreed responsibilities to ensure effective delivery.
Adapt teaching flexibly
to meet individual needs, including teaching beyond your main subject area where required.
Promote pupils’ personal development and wellbeing , supporting their social, emotional and academic growth.
Uphold safeguarding and professional standards , ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and all school policies.
Contribute to the wider life of the school , including administrative responsibilities, specific areas of leadership, and additional duties as required, reviewed through performance management and school improvement processes.
About You
You are:
A qualified teacher (UK QTS or equivalent)
Passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils with SEN
Creative, adaptable and able to tailor learning to individual needs
A strong communicator who builds positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
Motivated to contribute to a growing school and shape its future
