The Department of Pharmaceutical Services provides a full range of services for patients cared for by the Medical Center at UCSF and its providers and payors. These services include, but are not limited to: drug procurement, storage, and security; safe, accurate and timely preparation and distribution of drugs; clinical pharmacy services for patients; development of drug use policies within the Medical Center; drug information services for clinicians and patients; and participation in technology assessment and quality assurance programs. The Department of Pharmaceutical Services is affiliated with the UCSF Department of Clinical Pharmacy, an academic department within the School of Pharmacy, which has primary responsibility for teaching professional courses in the Pharm.D. curriculum, clinical research, and public and clinical service. Under the Department of Pharmaceutical Services, the Data Science and Analytics Pharmacist is involved in all aspects of the medication use process at all pharmacy locations within the UCSF Health System. They may also be asked to participate in pharmaceutical care in other sectors of the Department of Pharmaceutical Services as needed. The Data Science and Analytics Pharmacist applies advanced professional clinical informatics concepts and extensive knowledge of medication-use systems and technology to projects of all levels of scope and complexity. Additional functions include but are not limited to: leading and supporting pharmacy services initiatives and practice as a pharmacy informatics subject matter expert, responding to intra-departmental analytics requests, designing data visualization tools for departmental utilization, and developing necessary reports and data files to support the pharmacy department. The Data Science and Analytics Pharmacist will work with all departments of pharmacy to support the integration of pharmacy systems with internal and/or external applications and systems. The functions should add up to 100%. % of time Essential Function (Yes/No) Key Responsibilities (To be completed by Supervisor) 10 Yes Collaborates with business, technical, and clinical leaders to plan, develop, implement, and analyze highly-complex clinical informatics systems, and to design integrated architecture to ensure an optimal and efficient user experience and functionality, integrity, and reliability of systems. 10 Yes Serves as a technical leader and liaison in collaborating with business operations, pharmacy staff and other healthcare clinicians, and IT applications and technical teams to translate operations workflow and patient experience objectives into technical requirements. 10 Yes Leads project teams that include advanced business and clinical staff to improve clinical informatics results and to provide advice and sophisticated metrics and analytics to support management's decision-making processes for systems modifications that are cost-effective, scalable, and meet present and future needs. 30 Yes Performs highly-complex quality assurance testing, designs and runs analytical queries for enhanced and complex medical data access, and plans, develops, and writes documentation of design and deployment processes, workflows, and results. 10 Yes As a technical leader and information resource, may provide support, troubleshooting, and problem solving at an advanced level, and may produce and deliver user training curricula. 30 Yes Develops necessary reports and data files to support the pharmacy department and to support the integration of pharmacy systems with internal and/or external applications and systems. 0 0 0 0 0 100% (To update total %, enter the amount of time in whole numbers (without the % symbol - e.g., 15, 20) then highlight the total sum (e.g., 1%) at the bottom of the column and press F9. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Must have graduated from an accredited school of pharmacy and possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) or equivalent degree as determined by the National Board of Pharmacy. For graduates in a non-US country or jurisdiction, pharmacists must have earned a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certification as determined by the National Board of Pharmacy. * Completed an ASHP Accredited Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program or equivalent practice experience.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS * Must possess a current license in good standing to practice pharmacy in the State of California * Current certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. * Clarity certification required or the ability to obtain certification within 120 days of hire About UCSF
