Job Overview The LLM Gateway team within Salesforce's AI Platform is building the foundational infrastructure that powers Agentforce and AI capabilities across Salesforce's CRM clouds—working with cutting‑edge large language models from providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Based in San Francisco, CA or Bellevue, WA (hybrid), you will join a team at the heart of LLM integration, building platform services that reach millions of users worldwide. Responsibilities Build, scale, and maintain critical Einstein Platform features that power AI‑driven experiences for millions of Salesforce customers with a focus on performance, scalability, and future expansion. Build and ship high‑quality, production‑grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of the development workflow—pushing the boundaries of AI development tools to deliver secure, optimized, and high‑quality code. Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate seamlessly into human workflows, driving efficiency and innovation at scale across a microservice, multi‑tenant SaaS environment. Contribute to all phases of the SDLC—design, implementation, code reviews, testing, and automation—while mentoring engineers and helping shape technical direction. Requirements 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend development skills in Java, or another object‑oriented, compiled, statically‑typed language (C++, C#). Demonstrated, genuine AI‑first approach to engineering—using AI to move faster, build fluency across the stack, and contribute well beyond your core specialty, including experience with AI coding tools (e.g., ClaudeCode, GitHubCopilot, Codex, Cursor). Experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), scalable system architecture, and working with APIs (e.g., REST). Strong test‑driven development practices and the ability to support and resolve production issues through solid debugging and problem‑solving skills. Related technical degree required. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks and experience working with large language models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini). Familiarity with developer tools such as Git, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Spinnaker. Advanced prompt engineering skills and the ability to write precise, structured prompts that make AI outputs reliable, secure, and production‑ready. Benefits Time‑off programs, medical, dental, vision, mental health support, paid parental leave, life and disability insurance, 401(k), and employee stock purchasing program.
