Kubernetes Security Analyst Location: Phoenix, AZ 85003 Duration: 3 + Months (Posibility of extension) Position Description - We are seeking an experienced IT professional with a strong background in Kubernetes security and containerized environments to support the design, implementation, and ongoing protection of a new recording system within our infrastructure. This system operates on a Kubernetes-based, containerized platform, and this role is critical to ensuring the environment is secure, resilient, and operationally sound. The selected individual will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to evaluate system architecture, validate configurations, and implement security best practices. The focus of this role is not on building the platform from scratch, but on ensuring it is properly designed, securely configured, monitored, and defensible from both a technical and governance perspective. The role requires hands-on experience securing Kubernetes clusters in cloud or hybrid environments, with a strong understanding of container security, including image scanning, runtime protection, and secure deployment practices. The individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining access controls such as RBAC, enforcing network policies, managing secrets securely, and ensuring proper logging, monitoring, and alerting are in place. This position will also support vulnerability management, risk assessments, and incident response activities related to containerized workloads, while ensuring alignment with cybersecurity best practices and applicable regulatory or public sector compliance requirements. The ideal candidate brings a balance of deep technical expertise and security governance awareness, with experience evaluating vendor-supported architectures and enforcing security standards. Familiarity with Kubernetes security tools, CIS benchmarks, and frameworks such as NIST is highly desirable, along with experience in regulated environments. This role is essential to ensuring that critical infrastructure supporting public services is secure, auditable, and trustworthy. Skills Required
Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and security principles Strong understanding of container security best practices Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including defense-in-depth and least privilege Understanding of access control models, including RBAC Knowledge of network security concepts within containerized environments Understanding of secure configuration and hardening practices Knowledge of logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks Understanding of vulnerability management and risk mitigation strategies Knowledge of incident response processes and security operations workflows Ability to assess and validate system architecture and security configurations
Skills Preferred
Experience with Kubernetes security tools (Falco, Prisma Cloud, Aqua, Sysdig, etc.) Familiarity with CIS Kubernetes Benchmark hardening Experience in regulated environments (government, healthcare, elections) Certifications such as CKS, CISSP, or similar Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security integration
Experience Required
Experience securing Kubernetes clusters in cloud or hybrid environments Strong experience with containerized environments and container security principles Hands-on experience with: Image scanning, Runtime protection, Secure deployment practices Experience implementing and managing role-based access control (RBAC) Experience enforcing Kubernetes network policies Experience with secure secrets management (e.g., credentials, tokens, key management) Experience in configuring and maintaining: Logging, Monitoring, and Alerting systems Experience with vulnerability management for containerized workloads Experience conducting risk assessments related to system or infrastructure security Experience supporting or participating in incident response activities Experience applying cybersecurity best practices in operational environments
Experience Preferred
Experience supporting government systems or other regulated environments is strongly preferred Experience implementing and supporting Kubernetes environments with 99.999% uptime
Education Required Bachelors in a related field of study
