Job Purpose Applications Engineer I (Assistant AE) is the entry‑level position on the Applications Engineering Team. The Assistant AE focuses on effectively supporting and training users and testing the software. Core Job Duties Dedicate time and effort to learn products and support processes while handling simpler customer interactions. Respond to support tickets, assist users, help them operate company software, support training and demos, and appropriately escalating complex issues. Support software testing activities, develop proficiency in testing tools, processes, and product behavior. Execute assigned tests, assist with software and hardware testing, document test results, and learn to identify and report defects. Provide support for internal IT and business operations in support of development, product, marketing, and sales teams. Communicate customer feedback and feature requests to Application Engineer team leads and Product Management. Education and Experience No prior experience required. Technology‑related degree not required, but a bonus. Experience in the construction industry, 3D modeling, laser scanning, or software development not required, but a bonus. Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes Comfortable in a technical environment. Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills. Strong customer service skills. Good at switching tasks quickly in a complex environment. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of computer use. Ability to participate in remote meetings across global time zones. Occasional travel for team meetings, customer visits, or conferences (typically Working Conditions Remote work environment with collaboration across multiple time zones. Fast‑paced setting requiring adaptability and proactive communication. Collaboration with globally distributed engineering and product teams. Occasional onsite visits to customer locations, trade shows, or Topcon offices.
