Referral Processing * Send referrals to specialists. * Confirm specialist offices accept the patient’s insurance before sending referrals. * Track referral status, follow up on outstanding items, and maintain accurate logs. * Communicate referral updates to patients and providers. Fax & Document Management * Sort and distribute incoming faxes to the correct provider and/or department. * Scan documents into patient charts and create accurate chart notes. * Prioritize urgent clinical documents such as consult notes, imaging results, and medication requests. Patient & Office Communication * Answer and make phone calls to patients, specialists, and insurance companies. * Provide friendly, professional face‐to‐face assistance to patients. * Support providers and staff with timely communication and documentation.
Qualifications
Experience in a medical office or referral coordination preferred. Knowledge of insurance plans, eligibility, and authorization processes. Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered service. Ability to multitask with accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency with EHR systems and standard office technology.
