Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician role based in the Lafayette, Louisiana Metropolitan Area. The CAD Technician will prepare detailed civil engineering designs and plans for roads, drainage, water, sewerage, and general infrastructure under the guidance of civil engineers. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and revising CAD models, creating construction and permitting plan sets, and ensuring drawings comply with applicable standards, codes, and client requirements. Additionally, we intend for this person to grow and evolve into an engineers technician role developing simple hydraulic calculations, summaries of project quantities, and other engineering deliverables under a civil engineers direction. We seek individuals with a thirst for learning for this hybrid role. The role involves coordinating with engineers and other team members to incorporate design changes, verifying accuracy of dimensions and elevations, and organizing project files and documentation. The CAD Technician will also support basic technical troubleshooting of design workstations and software to help maintain a productive drafting environment.
Qualifications
working skills and proficiency in Auto CAD Civil 3D for civil infrastructure projects.
Experience preparing plans for roads, drainage, utilities, or site development is strongly preferred.
Willingness to develop engineering deliverables (ie simple hydraulic models) and project construction quantities under a civil engineer's guidance and direction
Willingness to travel to field as part of engineering team site visits and data collection
Ability to provide basic technical support and user assistance related to CAD workstations and software (e.g., Technical Support).
Skills in computer maintenance and routine system upkeep to help ensure reliable CAD performance (e.g., Computer Maintenance) is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy in drafting, and ability to follow engineering markups and standards.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers and project staff.
Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in drafting, CAD technology, civil engineering technology, or a related field.
Ability to work on-site in the Lafayette, Louisiana Metropolitan Area and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Compensation
$20 - $25/hr depending on experience. Following a 90 day probationary period:
