Job Description Position Summary The QA Analyst works closely with developers, product/ project managers and other team members to define and prioritize testing requirements; communicates test results and status reports in a Scrum environment. QA Analyst will ideally be able to think outside the box – instead of just running pre-defined test cases/requirements, ideal QA candidate will understand the business needs, consider the data and develop additional test cases, test tools, and requirements to enhance the QA testing process. Critical skills and recent experience required for all QA Analysts include an intermediate level of SQL, including query writing skills, understanding how to use SQL to pull out specific data from vast databases (will be tested in interview), stored procedures and transformations. Exposure to test automation, analysis of test cases to identify candidate cases for automation, and development of automation scripts in Selenium is highly preferred. A deep knowledge and interest in object oriented programming is a must!
Responsibilities
Develop, execute and implement test plans, test cases and test scripts for applications built upon a .NET application platform
Analyze test cases and understand business requirement documents to become an SME
Write, publish and maintain test plans, test cases and test scripts
Think critically to evaluate applications for potential scenarios where testing could
Publish and communicate test results and test plan statuses using established processes
Work closely/collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Dev, PM, Ops)
Participate in all aspects of functional, regression, user acceptance and load testing
Provide resource estimates, analysis and planning for test efforts
Coordinate with Network Services team to ensure required test platforms are available
Review processes for compliance
Design and maintain test data for projects
Participate in software design discussions, reviews and test strategy sessions
Integrate test specifications into design specifications
Establish test metrics as required by the QA Standards
Ensure builds in the various environments meet documented and apparent business needs and user requirements
Install, configure and use tools to automate functional testing
Other duties as described in summary, as assigned, or apparent.
Qualifications Requirements
BS Degree CS or MIS or equivalent experience in related roles
Five (5) years software testing experience with regression testing, integration testing, load and performance testing
Experience writing black box and GUI test cases, designing tests to mitigate risks and helping business experts define requirements
Experience with testing of web services
Extensive backend testing, understands data mapping, ETL and write complex SQL/Procs is crucial due to the quantity of data involved in all ADE projects
Experience with Enterprise and knowledge of the education system
At least one year of experience with scripting languages (JavaScrip), and/or open source test tools (such as Fit, FitNesse, Canoo WebTest, HtmlUnit or others) and/or commercial test tool scripting languages and/or programming in any language
Knowledge of and experience with TFS, MS Test and test automation is preferred
Ability to effectively collaborate with programmers and business experts required
Ability to work as part of a self-directed team, in which tasks are determined on a daily basis in coordination with co-workers, rather than being assigned
Demonstrated ability to use discretion and make sound decisions
Ability to excel in a collaborative and distributed team environment
Ability to work with a minimal amount of direction while being pro-active in keeping their management informed of project related issues
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to respectfully question ideas and share a point of view with others in support of the business requirements and needs
Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of employees ranging from entry level to senior leadership
Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and shift priorities quickly
Experience working on an Agile/Scrum team preferred
Proven strong problem-solving skills, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong aspiration to learn new technologies
Proven strong relationship-building and communication skills with team members and business users
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Experience in the education industry is preferred
